See two of the most accomplished and renowned musicians together live on the Fox stage – guitar virtuoso Al DiMeola & drum aficionado Billy Cobham in a jazz-infused, high energy performance that will leave you speechless!
The innovative and masterful guitarist DiMeola is making a relatively rare appearance at the historic Fox Theatre on what is being called his final electric tour. If you are a part of this small, lucky crowd of fans, you’ll be treated to two sets of Al’s electric classics as well as several acoustic favorites. At 60, Mr. DiMeola has seemingly only become better, more fluid, and in total command as he orchestrates the band through a powerful show. A departure from the last few decades of strictly acoustic playing, hearing Mr. DiMeola play his unique style of electric guitar once again is a promised pleasure.
His creative output to date is staggering, and DiMeola has assembled what he describes as his “best group by fit in my career”- the “Al DiMeola World Sinfonia 2000”. Featuring musicians from Argentina, Cuba and Israel and highlighting the pioneering jazz-rock fusion drummer Billy Cobham who leaves his rivals in the dust when he launches into climactic passages with demented ecstasy. Together DiMeola and Cobham combine anticipation and execution. DiMeola hearing what will come from Cobham as soon as it begins – Abrupt chord-slams, wailing guitar ascents and foxy fallbacks to quiet interludes fuelled only by DiMeola’s guitar throb and Cobham’s sly backbeat.
